Laissez les bons temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!) Andrea has just returned from American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Conference in New Orleans! She was selected to participate in a refereed research poster session to share our lab’s recent qualitative study examining caregiver use of strategies to promote their child’s participation in the home environment.  This was a grand occasion and opportunity to share our recent work, identify opportunities to collaborate, and learn of new happenings in the research field related to occupational therapy.  The energy and passion for advancement of the field of occupational therapy were palpable, made evident by the spirited discussions and knowledge-seeking of thousands of students, clinicians, educators, and researchers from around the world attending this conference.

Sharing in this context is just one of the ways our lab promotes dissemination of knowledge related to children’s participation.  In addition to sharing the findings of this study via poster at AOTA, a manuscript is currently under review for publication.  It’s important to acknowledge that research efforts do not cease after data collection and analysis. In fact, our team spends a great deal of time sharing what we’ve learned to advance rehabilitation/habilitation research.  This can be done through publications, formal presentations, refereed/non-refereed poster sessions, or other less conventional ways, such as online knowledge hubs.

Where in the world is our lab headed next?  We’ll give you a hint: “Bonjour!”
